About

The Sri Ramana Maharshi Center of Sonoma is dedicated to serving those who are attracted to the life and teachings of the sage Sri Ramana Maharshi. It is affiliated with Sri Ramanasramam, the ashram (spiritual community) centered around the teachings of Sri Ramana Maharshi that was founded in 1922 at the base of the sacred Arunachala mountain in Tiruvannamalai, South India. Sri Ramana Maharshi lived at this ashram from its inception until his death in 1950.

The Center is also affiliated with the Sri Ramana Maharshi Heritage, a religious nonprofit organization organized and operated under section 501(c)(3) of the U.S. Internal Revenue Code. The Heritage was founded and is managed by devotees from the San Francisco Bay Area and Washington, D.C. area.

Both Sri Ramanasramam and the Sri Ramana Maharshi Heritage offer a variety of resources for learning about and applying the life and teaching of Sri Ramana Maharshi. You are encouraged to explore the links above.

The Sri Ramana Maharshi Center of Sonoma is located at 7868 Danmar Drive in the town of Sebastopol, in Sonoma County, California, about 50 miles north of San Francisco (see the Contact page for specific directions). It was founded September 1, 2024.

The Center comprises a dedicated wing of a house in a residential neighborhood and hosts a variety of activities, including regular meetings, retreats, and open meditation hours. See the Schedule of Programs for details.

The Gallery offers a tour of the Center in pictures.

The Center was featured in an article in Saranagathi, the monthly eMagazine of Sri Ramanasramam. See page 8 of the January 2025 edition.
